What To Expect

Preparation

Before your first chiropractic appointment, a person should take a few preparatory steps to ensure a successful and informative experience. Here’s a list of things you should do:

Check Insurance Coverage

Contact Advanced Wellness Chiropractor to verify your insurance coverage for chiropractic care. Advanced Wellness has a list of all the companies they direct bill on their website. Knowing ahead of time that your insurance will cover the appointment will not only help avoid unexpected expenses, but put your mind at ease as well.

Gather Medical Information

Make a list of all current and past medical conditions, medications, allergies, and any recent X-rays or imaging reports related to the spine or musculoskeletal system. This information will assist the chiropractor in understanding the person’s health history.

Note Symptoms and Concerns

Jot down any specific symptoms, pain areas, or concerns the person may be experiencing. Be prepared to provide detailed information about the onset, intensity, duration, and any triggers or alleviating factors for the symptoms.

Wear Comfortable Clothing

On the day of the appointment, wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. Avoid wearing restrictive clothing that may interfere with the chiropractic examination and adjustments.

Arrive early

Plan to arrive at the chiropractor’s office a few minutes before the scheduled appointment time. This will allow time to complete any necessary paperwork and provide ample time for the initial consultation.

Be open and honest

During the consultation, be open and honest with the chiropractor about any health concerns, medical history, and lifestyle habits. Honest communication will aid the chiropractor in providing the best possible treatment plan.

Prepare Questions

Prepare a list of questions to ask the chiropractor about their treatment approach, expected outcomes, and any other concerns. It’s essential to have a clear understanding of the treatment plan and what to expect from the chiropractic care.

Understand the treatment process

Take some time to educate oneself about chiropractic care and the different techniques used in adjustments. Having a basic understanding of what to expect can alleviate any nervousness or uncertainty.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking water before and after the appointment can help maintain hydration and support the body during chiropractic adjustments.

Follow pre-appointment instructions

If the chiropractor provides any specific instructions or guidelines before the appointment, such as avoiding certain medications or activities, make sure to adhere to them.

By following these steps, a person can make the most out of their first chiropractic appointment and set the foundation for a positive and effective chiropractic experience. Remember that every person’s condition is unique, so it’s crucial to work collaboratively with the chiropractor to achieve the best possible results.

During The Appointment

Here’s what a person might typically feel during a chiropractic adjustment:

Pressure

Before the adjustment, the chiropractor may use their hands or specialized tools to apply gentle pressure to the targeted area. This pressure may create a sense of “build-up” or tension in the joint.

Popping Sound

During the actual adjustment, it’s common to hear a popping or cracking sound. This sound is known as cavitation and occurs when gas bubbles are released from the fluid that lubricates the joint. The popping sound is similar to what you might hear when cracking your knuckles.

Minimal Discomfort

Some people may experience mild discomfort or a slight sensation of soreness during or after the adjustment. This discomfort is usually temporary and may be compared to the feeling after a good workout.

Relief

After the adjustment, many individuals report feeling a sense of relief, increased mobility, and reduced pain. Chiropractic adjustments can be especially beneficial for those with musculoskeletal issues, such as back pain, neck pain, or headaches.

Relaxation

Chiropractic adjustments can also promote relaxation, as they help release tension and promote better alignment in the spine and other joints.

It’s important to note that while chiropractic adjustments are generally safe and well-tolerated, some individuals may have specific medical conditions or sensitivities that make certain techniques less suitable for them. It’s crucial to communicate openly with the chiropractor about any concerns or discomfort during the adjustment.

After the appointmet

After your adjustment, you might experience a feeling of lightness. Some people feel a shivery, warmth or cold sensations, tissue relaxation or brain fog lifting. These are all normal responses.

Tiredness

It’s also normal to feel tired a few hours after an adjustment. This tiredness is the sign of an effective adjustment. Your body is decompressing and is finally allowed to feel relaxed. Most likely, you’ll sleep quite well after your adjustment.

After TRT adjustments

It is also normal to feel nothing with TRT adjustments. Many patients do not notice much change during the actual adjustment but begin to feel bodily changes hours to days after the adjustment. TRT adjustment process in the background hours after adjustments.

It is also possible to feel a little more sore after an adjustment. The soreness comes from build up in tight muscles letting go. This soreness is slightly different then your presenting compliant and abates within 24 hours.

They will have a treatment plan in mind, and following that plan is important to the overall success of the treatments, and the improvement of your body.
